Survivor Update

Why is this stupid fucking show still on? Who's watching this crap, anyway? Didn't this thing jump the shark back around Ross and Rachel's fifth breakup?

Oh yeah, the update. It still sucks. The only reason there are still any of these moronic contrived "reality" shows on the air is because they're much cheaper to produce than something that requires writers and actors. That still doesn't explain how anyone could sit through it. It's about as entertaining as watching flies fuck.

I can honestly say that I've never seen one episode of Survivor. The closest I've ever come to 'reality TV' was Iron Chef or Trading Spaces - why, oh why did they let Alex McLeod go??? Not that Page whats-her-face wasn't ok to look at, but Alex McLeod... mmmmmmm....

What were we talking about?

Hey Rip. I've never seen an episode of Survivor either. I have seen bits and pieces of "scenery" scenes -- some of the island locations are spectacular.

Then the people come on. That's where I leave. Occasionally the wife will check it out, the way many of us used to check out Jerry Springer, for the soap opera aspect. I give her a hard time about it, which she appreciates.

I think she enjoys the campy shit too, the tiki torches and solemn voting ceremonies and whatnot. I give her the benefit of the doubt, since she insists on catching all the "good" stuff with actors and shit: The Shield, The Wire, Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, etc.

And we used to watch Iron Chef quite regularly. It's a fun, weird show, very Japanese, replete with all the offbeat translations, and the god-awful things they make. Broccoli ice cream. Classic.

Never seen Trading Spaces, but I guess I'll have to check out this Alex broad now.
