"And the Internet was such a jumble of false and true factoids that no one believed what was on it anymore, or else they believed all of it, which amounted to the same thing." -- Margaret Atwood, The Year of the Flood, p. 293
Let's explore a small but important footnote from Tuesday's Two Hours of Hate in Satan's Asshole, better known as Phoenix. At the usual "fake media" attack point in Snowflake's babbling greatest-shits nonsense, he observed that there were several news cameras filming and recording the lies for the bafflement of posterity. He then asserted that because he was talking shit about them, some of them were stopping the filming, that camera lights were going out.
It doesn't need to be stated for the record that that wasn't at all true, right? And yet, despite him telling them to look, and presumably them doing so, and seeing that the cameras were not in fact being turned off, many people in the (admittedly small, perhaps even smaller than Snowflake's tiny wittle doll hands) audience, grumbled in agreement with their dark lord.
In other words, despite being able to see for themselves a very simple empirically verifiable fact -- the lights are either on or off -- these folks looked, and listened, and decided that whatever Snowflake said must be the "truth," simply because he said it. These people have lost their fucking minds. They are more than happy to drive off the cliff with him.
I have been saying for well over a year that a significant portion of the people who show up at these rallies are, for all intents and purposes, members of a cult. The blind, passive acceptance of every lie, no matter how easily refuted or utterly ridiculous; the refusal to consider or weigh any evidence to the contrary of what the cult leader says; the inability to react appropriately to even blatant changes in basic cult tenets.
When the cult leader shows them a blank white piece of paper and tells them it's black and they agree, when Snowflake points at a row of running cameras and declares that the lights are turned off, and despite visual evidence they grumble their assent, these are not accidents or mistakes. These are the small but important psychological tricks that con men (which is all any cult leader really is) use to gain complicity -- and therefore compliance -- from their marks.
No sucker wants to admit they've been had, but you can't be half-in or half-out of a cult or a con. The decision tree is pretty binary with these things, you either give them your money and your brain and your dedication or you don't. These suckers are not a little bit pregnant -- when they decided that daddy knew something that their own eyes denied, they became fully impregnated with the demon spawn of cult stupidity. Let there be no doubt about it: the maroons are fully Knocked Up.
The obvious issue that applies to that third point above (inability to react to abrupt changes in cult principles) is the proposed border wall. This is no small thing -- he campaigned for nearly two years insisting that Mexico would pay for the wall, full stop. No plan, mind you, they just would do it because Himself willed it so. Yet in Phoenix last Tuesday, the tune had changed drastically, and now unless Congress appropriates a "down payment" to get the wall started, Snowflake is willing to have a budget shutdown.
Guess what? They're fine with that too. Policy never mattered to these dipshits. They clearly don't care if he makes good on any of his "promises," or if he even tries, so long as he rants about The Enemies. So many enemies on all sides, beleaguering these last honorable folk in their intemellectual redoubt of eternal persecution. They just want someone to punch down on, and Snowflake provides that vicarious (but again, small) baby-fist. And now the law is whatever he says it is.
Snowflake's cabinet has picked up on this bad habit, and have adopted the cult mentality as well. This morning Tex Drillerson, Secretary of the gutted State Department, opined that Snowflake "speaks for himself." Well, not exactly -- he speaks for himself and his cult followers exclusively. This is the problem in its entirety: he neither knows nor cares about what the majority who didn't vote for him might want.
Obviously, to a great extent, every elected leader speaks primarily for the constituency that put them there. Shitty leaders, such as the current miscreant, or the Bush/Cheney regime, make a point of ignoring the chicanery and statistical whiskers they used to squeak into office, and act like they have a 100% mandate, when they couldn't even win a simple majority. By contrast, Obama came into office in 2008 with a supermajority, and a huge electoral and popular vote margin, and still (much to his discredit; it sure as hell did him no good whatsoever) exerted much effort into reaching across the aisle and trying to work with the opposition.
Cult members by definition need to be deprogrammed, and let's hope that the Dems have no interest in that sort of time-waster. They want to follow their zero down to the Maga-Lardo compound and have him whip up a nice batch of Kool-Aid for them, let them. Providing a clear message and motivation for your own base it where it's at. But mostly it's going to come down to whether enough of us have had enough of this dangerous bullshit, and if we want our country back.
The good news is that there are still more of us than there are of them. The bad news is that they have the levers of power, and will cheat in order to try to keep them, and so we will have to make the effort. As always, the three big ones are much more effective than rioting in the streets:

- Boycott every company that does business with Clownstick, his family, his hotels, and all propaganda outlets, especially Fixed Noise and Breitshart. Send a quick email to these companies letting them know exactly why.
- Email or call your representatives and let them know your expectations. If they support this monster, let them know about whatever efforts you'll be able to make when election time comes; if they've spoken out against him, let them know you appreciate and support their efforts.
- Make sure you vote. Make sure you can vote, that all your info is in order, and there's nothing some weaselly shitbag at the elections office can do to screw you out of your right. If you're community-minded enough and have the time, join a registration drive, and make sure all the people that sign up have their necessary info in order.
The criminal White Power Riot in Charlottesville, was the moment Trump truly became President of the Confederacy.
