Not a review this time, but this retrospective appreciation of A Perfect Getaway is pretty solid. It's certainly one of the more underrated movies of this century so far, imho. Not a great film, like people will be talking about it a hundred years from now, but it's a very good one, much better than most in its genre, with lively, quirky performances from Steve Zahn and Timothy Olyphant. Milla Jovovich and Kiele Sanchez are also great as the respective female leads, strong and resourceful.
It's tough to run a two-hour movie around just four characters for ninety percent of it, but this group pulls it off really well. It mostly takes place in Kauai, so the location shooting is frequently spectacular. As the review notes, Getaway strikes an unusual balance between suspense and comedy that works (again, thanks to great casting), building steadily and patiently, without losing momentum. It's violent in parts, but not gratuitously so. If you haven't seen it, you should. There are plenty of worse ways to spend an afternoon.
