Jonah Goldberg decided that it would be a good idea to trot out his usual nonsense and attack Juan Cole, a Middle East expert who is a professor of history at the University of Michigan, and has been a sober, informed voice throughout the current Iraq conflict. Cole writes books and speaks three dialects of Arabic. Goldberg watches The Simpsons and thinks he knows something about everything.
Professor Cole may not look like a bad-ass, but he gives Goldberg and his ignorant bullshit a professorial pimp-slap. Several, in fact. D'oh!
There's too much good stuff to excerpt; read the entire thing, as well as their previous encounters, and keep all that in mind the next time you flip through the cable news channels and see Sean Hannity or Chris Matthews bellowing out their asses about issues and places and people they have not even bothered to scratch the surface of. Which is pretty much any given night.
