But Siriusly, Folks

This weekend, Sirius Music Network's "Big '80s Hits" channel is having a "Michael Beats It" weekend, where subscribers can call in and make "guilt-free" (heh, get it?) requests of their favorite Jacko opus. See, it's funny and contemporary, because he had a song called Beat It, and it's like a pun....feh.

Look. For one, this is no joke. The guy is fucking guilty, O.J. guilty, and we all know it. Only the most depraved of moral cretins could figure otherwise. He's a predator and abuser of children, and it's textbook behavior to target kids from broken homes and dysfunctional families, for precisely the reasons that the verdict of the "trial" drove home in spades -- they're less believable by definition.

I'm all for free speech and all, but this is bullshit. On the weekend of Father's Day, no less, this dismal excuse for a parent and a man is being lauded for buying his way out of trouble once again. I fail to see the humor in it. How about an O.J. Simpson infomercial for Ginsu? Pretty fucking funny, no?

If this bugs you as much as it does me, I encourage you to take a minute and e-mail them, or call their request line at 1-877-33-SIRIUS, and let them know what you think. As with anything else, if you don't say anything, they just figure it's okey-doke. And it isn't; it's pretty fucked up when you think about it.
